Thousands of Afghan flee Kandhar fighting
In Afghanistan more than 22,000 families have fled amid fighting in the former taliban bashan of kandahar. This comes as authorities arrested for suspected taliban fighters over this week’s rocket attack on kabul. Local authorities at set up four camps for the displaced people who are estimated to be about 1,54,000.
A kandahar resident says his house had been taken over by the taliban after they fled. Earlier the afghan government imposed a nighttime curfew across 31 provinces to curb violence and movement of the taliban. Since, early may violence has surged across Afghanistan after the taliban launched a sweeping offensive amid withdrawal of the foreign troops.
