Algeria has accused two groups of igniting the recent wildfires. In its territory saying one is backed by Morocco and Israel the president’s office held the Rashad militant group and Macar responsible for the fires.
The country designated the groups as terrorist organizations. Earlier this year the president’s office said the police had arrested 22 people for starting the blaze. It said it would also intensify the security controls on its borders with Morocco, Israeli and Moroccan foreign ministries have not commented on the accusations so far forest fires have ripped across north Africa this month. But have been fiercest in Algeria causing huge damage and casualties.
