Hamas has called for stepping up protests against Israeli settler incursions in occupied East Jerusalem.
This comes as Israeli right-wing groups asked settlers to force their way into Al-aqsa Mosque to mark Jewish holidays. In a statement Hamas spokesperson said the intrusions are guarded by the occupation army and police. The spokesperson said Palestinians must escalate activities in a bid to reject these aggressions.
Earlier Egyptian president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi held a phone call with his Israeli counterpart. In a statement the Egyptian presidency said both discussed the efforts to revive the peace talks between Palestinians and Israelis.
