Indonesia and Australia have agreed to boost ties in the areas of defence and security.
The two sides signed a series of deals in a ministerial meeting in Jakarta. Indonesian officials say that memento random of understanding were reached on counterterrorism defence and cyber security. They say the possibility of Indonesian military cadets attending Australian academies was also discussed.
Meanwhile the two sides also exchanged views on the political developments in Afghanistan and Myanmar. They also express support for the peace efforts of the Southeast Asian regional envoy. Australian defence and foreign ministers are on a four nation visit to Indonesia, India, South Korea and the U.S.
