Forman Christian College University (FCCU), formerly Forman Christian College (FCC), is a private higher education institution located at Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan.

FCCU was originally founded in 1858 as a seminary for girls’ higher education. By 1970, it had over 750 girls’ colleges operated by 140 colleges.
In 1978, when Pakistan struggled economically, the school in Lahore began to receive aid from the United Nations. The students in both genders were also encouraged to apply to colleges in the United States or Europe.
In 1981, the U.S. Congress passed the Korea Education Act, which provided not only economic assistance but also academic scholarships from the American government.
However, the act also stipulated that the first policy to be instituted by the FCCU must be that of universal higher education. This policy meant that all FCCU students had to be able to obtain a high school equivalency diploma regardless of where in the world they studied. This made FCCU the first all-girl educational institute in the world accepted by the U.S. Department of State as a non-profit educational institution.
FCCU, which as of 2014 has 27 colleges and their partial history, was the first school in South Asia to be awarded a Carnegie Science Award, among many accolades.
However, in 2011, due to the global financial crisis, the school tried a “Bail-In” plan of shutting down, leaving 20,000 students unable to attend their last two classes. This meant that 6,000 students lost their last semester. After negotiations between FCCU and the students, they were able to reopen, along with all their classes.
